We first met Cosmic Kids, Ron Poznansky and Dan Terndrup, last December at the Throne Of Blood Barbarians Party in Downtown LA. They're a fantastic DJ duo residing here in Los Angeles that, quite frankly, is about to explode.
The two met in a high school classroom meant for kids who had trouble paying attention and bonded over their love of classic rock. Right out of high school they both volunteered to work at the Los Angeles radio station KCRW. Known for its eclectic programming, the friends were exposed to all different kinds of music, and began collecting and consuming records, feeding their ever-expanding appetite for music.
Frequenting warehouse after parties where band members would DJ, they were inspired by the idea of sharing good music and seeing people really responding to a certain song or beat. As they grew their record collection, Poznansky and Terndrup felt they had something to contribute, and DJ’d their first party in 2006 with Rapture and DJ AM. Since that inaugural gig, they’ve DJ’d alongside LCD Soundsystem, Holy Ghost!, Juan Maclean, Dâm Funk, Crystal Castles, Digitalism, The Rapture, Harvey, Little Boots, Classixx, and...us!
While keeping busy playing gigs at their circuit of favorite Los Angeles parties, Cosmic Kids have also been keeping busy recording their debut EP on Throne Of Blood... Reginald's Groove (out Monday!) If you've been to any of our parties in the past few months you've no doubt heard the party starting Classixx remix or the devilishly deep remix from the mighty Bicep, the whole EP has been a staple in our sets for the past few months.
They've taken the time to put together this set with the summer party season in mind ahead of their gig this weekend in Tijuana. A little 40 minute mix from Bas follows. Enjoy!
