CLASSIC PLASTIC / 808 State - Pacific State

When people discuss classics it seems like 808 State's Pacific State gets overlooked a bit. It's probably because it's not as "clubby" as others, but it's a beautiful tune and truly timeless. This came out in 1989, but still sounds really fresh every time I hear it.

ÂME LIVE AT PLASTIC LOVE (LIVE DEBUT TOUR) / DEC.17.2011

In 2010 Âme's announced plans for a live compilation CD and accompanying tour, 2011 saw that tour come to fruition with shows at Trouw and the Awakenings Festival in Amsterdam, Tunnel in Italy, Dekmantel in Netherlands, and various gigs all over Europe. We at Plastic Love have pegged Âme for their Los Angeles leg and we couldn't be happier to be a part of their debut North American tour. Tickets and guestlist info after the jump, check it out.

CLASSIC PLASTIC / UNDERGROUND SOUND OF LISBON - SO GET UP

Tribal is one of my favorite record labels ever. Danny Tenaglia, Murk, Junior Vasquez and Deep Dish (among others) got their start here. Underground Sound of Lisbon is the collaboration of Portugal's DJ Vibe and Rui Da Silva. So Get Up was their biggest track together. The Tribal release has remixes from Danny Tenaglia and Junior Vasquez. All the mixes are great. DT added some fat bass:

CLASSIC PLASTIC / KAREN POLLACK - YOU CAN'T TOUCH ME (MURK REMIX)

Oscar G and Ralph Falcon have been producing on their own and together for almost 20 years. Their discography is full of bombs and still expanding; this year they've brought back the Intruder moniker to release "Amame." We'll go back to 1992 for their remix of Karen Pollack's "You Can't Touch Me." This is vintage Murk: deep, dark, soulful, tribal.

PULSE 051 / THRONE OF BLOOD

As we enjoy our brief hiatus from the Plastic Love podcast we feel obligated to continue to push some great music. The fine people over at Pulse Radio have pegged our buddies at Throne Of Blood for this week's edition of the Pulse Radio podcast to celebrate their latest release from label stalwarts Populette. They've even managed to get head honcho "Big Baby" James Friedman and Max Pask (1/2 of Populette) sat down for a brief interview. Check out some excerpts from the interview and of course the unreleased TOB jams heavy mix (with accompanying tracklist!) from Populette and James after the jump.

CLASSIC PLASTIC / THE TROJAN HORSE FEAT. ROMANTHONY - WHAT $ LOVE

This week's Classic Plastic comes from a veritable staple in the house community, Romanthony. Wildly famous for his track as Buzzin Cuzzins Let Me Show You Love, and even wildlier (?) famous still for his vocal work with Daft Punk, Romanthony is and was a very talented producer. This time around he dons his short lived Trojan Horse moniker to deliver a straight jacking piano house jam, and of course backs himself up on vocals.

PLASTIC LOVE PODCAST 020 / EVAN STALKER (ON THE PROWL)

This week on the podcast we welcome a fresh face to the Los Angeles dance scene, mister Evan Stalker. I first caught wind of Evan a few months back when he opened for me at Control. Proving some definite prowess behind the decks I dug a little deeper and found that his debut EP will be coming out via Jacques Renault's (of Runaway fame) On The Prowl imprint. Slated for release in November, I asked Evan to mix things up for us here on the podcast and he did not disappoint. An all vinyl mix to boot! Check out podcast and the tracklist after the jump.

PLASTIC LOVE PODCAST 018 / MURPHY JAX

We first caught wind of Murphy Jax when he burst onto the scene last October with his first vinyl release on Clone Jack For Daze, featuring seminal Chicago house producer Mike Dunn, titled It's The Music. With remixes from Legowelt and Alden Tyrell, both Clone mainstays, It's The Music quickly made its rounds through DJ charts and sets alike finally landing at number 12 in the Groove Magazine top 50 of 2010.

JKRIV / ANOTHER NIGHT [DEEP&DISCO RECORDINGS]

Jkriv (aka Deep&Disco) is no stranger to us here at Plastic Love.  We've been following him on Soundcloud for quite some time and have had the opportutnity to hammer out some of his spectaular edits in our sets. Already a seasoned vet as the bassist for deep house outfit Tortured Soul, Jkriv has been dropping productions for labels such as OM Records, Dessous, and Central Park Recordings. Among his busy schedule he's found the time to launch his own record label, Deep&Disco. For the label's inagural run, Jkriv has employed the vocal stylings of Escort's Adeline Michele along with some heavy hitting remixers.  Greg Wilson, Social Disco Club, Matthew Kyle, Ethan White, and Dicky Trisco & Project Temp all make the cut. Check it out after the jump.

BICEP / SAY YOU WANNA [MYSTERY MEAT]

It's no surprise that we're mega fans of Bicep, the boys that run the always fantastic Feel My Bicep blog. Ever since their debut Throne Of Blood EP, aptly titled EP 1, they've been on an absolute tear on the studio and on the road paying gigs all across England and Europe. Now they've decided to flex their studio muscle for the Mystery Meat series.  Summer's still here and they've provided a four-track EP dripping with 80s sleaze and pool side vibes.  Check it out after the jump.

DROOG vs INXEC / WESTBOUND EP [CROSSTOWN REBELS]

After several months in the making and a relationship that's been burgeoning far longer than that, Droog and Inxec's debut EP is soon to be released on Crosstown Rebels. Wonky basslines and sparse vocals abound! Mega support on this one from the two of us, check out the samples after the jump.

PLASTIC LOVE PODCAST 012 / ULYSSES

This week's podcast comes to us by way of Wurst Music Co.'s Ulysses. As one half of Filipsson and Ulysses with Holmar Filipsson (aka Thugfucker) and Neurotic Drum Band with John Selway, Ulysses is a man on a mission on the production front and quite a stellar DJ to boot.

Podcast Update

I've made an exeutive decision regarding the podcast, and starting this month the format will change slightly.  In lew of two part episodes, our mix and the guest mix will be stitched together for one long download.  We figured that was easier.  More after the jump.
